How cables play a role in growth and development.
South Africa has long had a role to play in economic growth and development on the continent. Although we have our fair share of local impediments to growth, it is more crucial than ever to ensure we keep Africa connected. Cable provides the foundation for infrastructure. It is the lifeblood of society – the veins that carry industry, business, and the economy.
Continental Cables is mandated to distribute quality cable throughout South Africa and beyond. We do not take our mandate lightly. It is an honour to be involved at a foundational level for innovation and development for a diverse range of industries.
At the most basic level, we are lighting up Africa with electrical cable connections – but at top level we are igniting growth and development. It is a visceral connection so ingrained in our day to day lives. Our society is heavily reliant on access to connection. The South African Wires & Cables Market size is projected to reach US$7.46 billion by 2026 (IndustryArc; WonderNet).
Beyond connection, our purpose at Continental Cables is to deliver on the expectation to be competitively priced, ensuring availability of stock, whilst offering an unmatched service.
Our job is to light up the African continent and maintain and enhance critical global connection, without which, our growth and development cannot move past stagnation.
Distribution through the decades
Within South Africa, Continental Cables have a large footprint and solid foundation built on
many years of industry experience. We have the buying power to ensure competitive pricing
and the continuous supply of large stock quantities.
Established in 2007 as a family business, Continental Cables has grown to become one of the largest power cable distributors in Africa, offering a comprehensive and innovative range of solutions designed and manufactured specifically for the often harsh African environment. But we have a deep understanding of local demands and needs. Our vision is to meet demands by providing our customers with quality cable at competitive prices.
Key to this offering is to remain highly responsive and reliable. Ensuring ready supply is key to this; and also a major challenge with a logistics industry in turmoil. So we keep it local. Our local branch network, combined warehousing capacity of over 21,000 square metres, extensive stock holding sourced both locally and abroad, as well as our fleet of trucks and cranes, allows us to remain quick and reliable.
We go to great lengths to ensure that a wide range of products are readily available for our diverse range of customers – catering for all sectors including mining, industrial, agricultural, automotive, security, wholesale, retail and the building industry.
The business of buying and selling
Our stock is sourced predominantly from leading manufacturers in South Africa. Specialised products not manufactured locally are sourced from abroad. Continental Cables fosters solid supplier and customer relationships that are built on honesty, efficacy and above all else, respect.
Our business is built on relationships and as a result we offer unparalleled expertise and reliability. Every job has an impact in Africa and so we commit to handling any order, big or small.
The role of cable
Our expansive product offering has been developed to meet the developing needs of individual customers and markets; both locally and internationally. Through technological advances and new product developments, we are set to provide innovative solutions to the ever-changing needs of our ever-changing markets.
We do more than just sell cable. We partner with our customers to get the job done and seek opportunities for more at every turn. We are intent on making a success of every day, for every customer. We are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those who we work with, and for.
Having comprehensive product knowledge and understanding both the market and the needs of customers is what drives connection with our work. It’s about being proactive and continually striving to remain on the cutting edge of industry advancements.
We forge connections that stand the test of time. And it’s because it’s ingrained in our DNA.
